Reduce Water Heater Bills As Much As 75%

Why throw away perfectly good energy?  If you have an air conditioner that dumps heat to the outdoors, that’s exactly what you’re doing.

What you could do instead is funnel all of that lost energy into your water heater….and get twice the value for the same dollar you spend on your utility bill during the hot months.

How?  Install an add-on or integral heat pump water heater or HPWH, for short.  The way they work is not very different from an air conditioner, except that the condenser coils, which are hot, are attached to your existing water heater.    The HPWH dehumidifies and cools your indoor air and directs the heat it removes from your house to the water heater.

There are several types of HPWH.  Some can be owner-installed.   Others require a professional. Some models sit right on top of the water heater tank and take up no floor space.  There are also integral products that include a water heater, so if you know you’ll need to replace your water heater in the not-too-distant-future, be sure to look into this option ahead of time.

A heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) professional can help you assess the specifics of your air conditioning situation and advise what type of HPWH might be best for you.
